Carbide rod inspection systems from Haginger

QUALITY ASSURANCE IN ROD PRODUCTION

It is almost impossible to imagine modern carbide production without 100% control of the rods. Due to the special material composition there are many process parameters which affect the extrusion result and the quality. In order to automatically detect defects in the carbide rods we offer various measuring units.

Inspection options at a glance

It starts with a simple length measurement where the carbide rod is pressed against a stopper by a slider and goes up to a complete 3D measurement of the entire surface. Both the diameter and the pitch are measured and the surface is inspected for defects. A straightness measurement is also possible in this way.

To check the cooling holes, we use camera systems which measure the end faces of the rod. In this way the dimensions of the cooling holes can be measured, as well as their position and alignment. Another possibility for non-contact straightness measurement is offered by triangulation sensors that scan the rod as it rolls past, determining the most curved point. In all our vision and measurement systems we work with specialists with years of experience.

Fully automatic handling and separation

A very important part of our rod inspection systems is the handling of the carbide rods. We use our experience gathered in the handling of green rods to our advantage. The carbide rods are removed from the sintering plates and separated fully automatically. We can also offer storage systems for the sintering plates, for example, to store a complete sintering unit. This means the machine can be run without an operator for several hours.

Sorting and classification according to specification

The finished carbide rods are divided into different pitch classes and sorted into transport containers. Here, as well, we do not have a standard, but adapt to your existing transport concepts. On request, we offer the rod inspection systems, like all our machines, with a PDA connection which allows all measurement results sent to your internal network.

The results are also visualised on a large display to give the operator an excellent overview. Trends and statistics are also displayed on the screen.
